Sarah Herder is the Education Director at The Advocates for Human Rights. Prior to this, she served as the organization’s Director of Development and Communications. She received her Master of Public Policy degree with a self-designed concentration in Human Rights from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs and a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota, Morris. Ms. Herder is a licensed teacher in the State of Minnesota and has experience as an educator and training teachers in Human Rights Education (HRE). She has worked on legislative advocacy and community education around local and national immigration policy. Ms. Herder has also conducted research on public benefit eligibility and funding, the representation of immigrant and minority populations in local newspapers, and media’s effects on children in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal.
