On August 25, the New Liberian published an article by The Advocates' Laura Young on the Liberian Women's Roundtable, a group of women leaders from across the Twin Cities. The LWR is calling on Liberian parents to get involved in their children’s school success, as many Liberian youth are struggling to reach the highest possible levels of success in school. 

On August 20, the Liberian Journal covered The Advocates' town hall meeting with the Liberian Community and Representative Erik Paulsen.

The Liberian Journal published an article today regarding the upcoming meetings with U.S. Representative Erik Paulsen, Liberians living in Minnesota, and The Advocates for Human Rights. The first of two meetings is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18th at the Brooklyn United Methodist Church in Brooklyn Center.

On August 2, Minnesota Public Radio quoted Advocacy Director Michele Garnett McKenzie in a story about the the English-only ordinance that passed in Lino Lakes, MN. The city had received support in drafting and passing the legislation from ProEnglish - a group with ties to John Tanton. Tanton is the founder of FAIR, an organization that has been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

On July 22, The Advocates' director of advocacy Michele Garnett McKenzie participated in a discussion of the issues related to children of immigrants. The discussion took place at the Insight Now section of MPR NewsQ and offered a lively and informative discussion of the subject.

The July 17 article from the Asian American Press features the recent press release from The Advocates in response to President Obama's speech on immigration reform. 

The July 1 article from Twin Cities Daily Planet includes portions of the press release from The Advocates, as well as comments from Robin Phillips in response to President Obama's speech on immigration reform. 

On June 18, the Star Tribune published a commentary co-written by Director of Women's Human Rights Program Cheryl Thomas entitled “Cut the Human-Trafficking Demand by Enforcing the Laws”. 

The Advocates' new book club is featured in a MinnPost article. The article discusses how a book club can be a tool for advocacy and education and highlights immigration issues in Minnesota.
