The Advocates Mourns the Death of Activist Ellen Pence

The Advocates for Human Rights mourns the death of Ellen Pence, a human rights activist who dedicated her life to ending violence against women. Ellen Pence’s vision of a world where violence against women is not tolerated was the force that transformed the police and court system in Minnesota 40 years ago. Pence’s work inspired a revolution in thinking about women’s fundamental human right to be free from violence that has had a ripple effect around the world. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to: Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women (Ellen Pence Memorial Fund), 60 East Plato Blvd., Suite 130, St. Paul, MN, 55107. The fund will provide cash assistance to women who experience violence.
