The Advocates is presenting this free training in conjunction with the Mid-MN Legal Aid’s Immigration Law Project and South Dakota family law attorneys. Last December attorneys in South Dakota were trained on the basic avenues of relief for unaccompanied minors, mothers, and children fleeing volatile conditions in Central America. The October 15 training will focus on applying for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and asylum. SIJS involves a South Dakota family law court piece, and local lawyers will present local best practices and testimonials on their casework over the last eight months. There will be opportunities to sign up with The Advocates as a pro bono attorney.
