This is part I of a two-part series and will focus on the initial stages of removal proceedings for asylum seekers including preparation for the initial master calendar hearing. Participants will learn how to conduct client interviews and prepare asylum applications with individuals who have experienced significant trauma and are in removal proceedings.

This training provides an in-depth introduction to asylum law and procedure and reviews the necessary documentary evidence needed to file an asylum application. Tips and advice regarding representation of low income asylum seekers will also be provided.

This is part II of a two-part series and will focus on the final stages of removal proceedings for asylum seekers including preparation for the individual merits hearing. Participants will learn how to conduct country condition research, address document authentication, identify an expert witness and prepare the client to testify before the immigration court.
