"Trafficked in America" Screening & Guided Discussion
Tuesday, June 4, 2019 12:00 PM

The CLE will include the screening of documentary Trafficked in America by Andrés Cediel, followed by a guided discussion. The film documents the cases of teenagers from Central America who, upon being smuggled into the U.S., were then forced by their traffickers to work and hand over all wages to pay off their debts. Through these cases, the film exposes the criminal networks involved in labor trafficking, as well as the policies and practices of the U.S. government that make undocumented minors especially vulnerable to this crime. The following discussion will focus on labor trafficking in Minnesota, including the legal standards and current trends.
