Volunteer Effectiveness Internship

The Volunteer Effectivness intern will work with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Deputy Director as we develop and implement new systems to recurit, train, deploy, manage, and support volunteers as part of our current strategic priority to maximize volunteer effectiveness.

We welcome undergraduate/graduate students from an discpline interested in a creative experience in a non-profit setting. 

Intern duties may include:

  • Work in a team to develop new volunteer management systems and software and maintain volunteer and intern records;
  • Assist in redesigning our internship program;
  • Create documents and visuals to map organizational processes;
  • Research human resources/organizational development methodologies;
  • Conduct needs assessments, surveys, and interviews, as needed;
  • Assist in developing protocols around volunteer recruitment, training, and tracking;
  • Help maintain online volunteer and intern position descriptions;
  • Greet asylum clients and other visitors on rotation at the front desk;
  • Assist with all-hands-on-deck activities including mailings and events; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work with changing priorities and with enthusiasm;
  • Innovative, self-driven, and inquisitive;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects;
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team;
  • Background in human resources, organization development, nonprofit management, or related field is valued but not required; and
  • Interest in human rights, social justice, and international affairs.
