The Asylum Office is making an extended visit to Minnesota this summer. As such, many of our clients will be attending their asylum interviews in the coming months and the need for interpreters is great. We are holding this special interpreter training with a focus on interpreting for asylum interviews.
This is an opportunity for new or prospective volunteers who have never attended a training to receive a rundown of the basics of interpreting and for seasoned interpreters to receive additional instruction on interpreting specifically for asylum interviews.
In addition to offering background on asylum interviews, we are excited to offer as part of this training a presentation on interpreting ethics, best practices, and tips from attorney and professional interpreter Graciela Gonzalez.
