June 17, 2020 - The United Nations Human Rights Council held an Urgent Debate on Wednesday, June 17  to discuss “race-based human rights violations, systemic racism, police violence against persons of African descent, and violence against peaceful protests" in the U.S. and other countries. June 8, 2020 - The Advocates for Human Rights is proud to stand with the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Michael Brown, and Philando Castile, together with more than 600 rights groups led by the American Civil Liberties Union and U.S. Human Rights Network, in calling on the United Nations Human Rights Council to convene a special session to investigate police violence and repression of protests in the United States. June 4, 2020 - The Advocates submitted a written statement and recommendations to the UN Human Rights Council calling for the dismantling of systemic racism in the United States, including the pattern of extrajudicial state-involved killings of Black men.
