Ahmed K. Sirleaf II is an International Justice Program Associate at The Advocates for Human Rights. A human rights advocate and scholar, Ahmed has a special interest in efforts to implement context-appropriate transitional justice initiatives in societies that have experienced severe violence. He holds an MA in International Law and the Settlement of Disputes from the University for Peace in San José, Costa Rica, an MPA in Public Leadership and International Policy Analysis from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and a BA in Legal Studies from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He has also studied and held guest lecturer and co-instructor positions in transitional justice at various other universities. Ahmed is a regular presenter on Alternative Dispute Resolution, Transitional Justice, and the role of Diasporas in peacebuilding. Recent speaking appearances include the Minnesota State Bar Association’s ADR Section and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, UNITAR, in New York City. Ahmed has received several human rights and community leadership awards and is currently chair of the Pan African Council of Minnesota.
