Volunteer Model

The Advocates leverages every dollar of support three to four times over through the work of volunteer professionals. Each year, hundreds of volunteers – including teachers, lawyers, artists, students, doctors, marketing and technology experts, translators, and others – share their time and energy. Last year, more than 500 volunteers from Minnesota and around the world contributed $4 million in in-kind professional services, such as advocacy, research, legal representation, translation, medical and psychiatric care, graphic design, and event planning. Our volunteers frequently report that their lives and world views have been changed by their direct, hands-on experience with human rights work.
