Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit fair trade organization that markets handcrafted products made by artisans from more than 130 artisan groups in 38 countries. As one of the world's oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating long-term buying relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to unique gifts, accessories and home decor from around the world.
The mission of Ten Thousand Villages is to provide vital, fair income to people in developing countries by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. We work with artisans who otherwise would be unemployed or underemployed. This income helps pay for food, education, health care, or housing.
Ten Thousand Villages in Saint Paul was established in 1981 and is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Currently located on the corner of Grand and Victoria, the store operates with the assistance of over 100 volunteers.
