Winona State University is hosting the Tri-State Human Rights Conference on Saturday, March 24, 2012.  Co-sponsored by the City of Winona Human Rights Commission, Winona State University, and The Advocates for Human Rights, the theme of the conference is: The Changing Faces of Our Region: Developing Professional, Personal, and Social Responsibility and Strategies for Equity and Economic Opportunity.

The conference will take place in Winona on the Winona State University campus in Kryzsko Commons, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. with a reception at the Winona Historical Society.

The goal of the conference is to provide local professionals and students with practical knowledge and concrete skills designed to address the economic future of our region and to recognize the vital role human rights play in our region’s economic success.

Multiple, concurrent workshops offered at this conference will provide participants the opportunity to identify the local economic impact of discrimination and other forms of human rights abuses and review strategies to address disparities in opportunity and access in their professional, personal, and social lives.

The morning plenary and lunch keynote speakers will be announced soon.
