Case Summary: Around the age of 12, Mr. VC realized that he was gay. He has been in a relationship with his partner, C, for nearly 20 years. Mr. VC did not tell others that he was gay and kept his relationship with C secret. Despite this, he was insulted, abused, and extorted because he was gay. He reported these incidents to the police, but the police did not take his reports seriously. He tried living in other areas of Ecuador, but he experienced similar treatment because of his sexual orientation. If he returns to Ecuador, Mr. VC fears he will be harmed or killed.
