Who Can We Help?

We provide free legal help to people seeking asylum, unaccompanied children, people in immigration detention, and people who have been victims of human trafficking

Who's Eligible?

Map of The Advocates' service area, which is Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.



Our free legal help is available to people whose household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and live or are detained in Minnesota, North Dakota, or South DakotaWe do not charge any legal fees. 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services updates the federal poverty guidelines each year. The amount varies based on household size.

ImmigrationLawHelp.org is a searchable online directory of over 1,000 free or low-cost nonprofit immigration legal services providers in all 50 states.

Outside the U.S.?

The UN Refugee Agency provides information and legal advice to stateless people through its partners in many countries around the world.
