Join The Advocates for Human Rights and Stinson LLP for an online CLE / webinar on "Universal Rights and the Ultimate Sanction: The Death Penalty's Denial of Fundamental Human Rights," a CLE offered by Stinson Of Counsel John Bessler.

John has extensive experience in civil litigation, representing clients across a range of industries in matters involving class actions, construction, contracts, employment, insurance, and torts. Beyond his legal practice, John is a law professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law and an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center. He has also taught at the George Washington University Law School, Rutgers, and the University of Minnesota Law School. John has authored multiple books on capital punishment, and he served as the editor of Justice Stephen Breyer's Against the Death Penalty (2016). The CLE will explore the death penalty's history, lead attendees through a human rights-focused evaluation of capital punishment, and contextualize the global abolition movement after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).
