Kenya - The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights - LGBTIQ+ - January 9

This report provides an overview of human rights developments related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE) since Kenya’s last review in 2016. It concludes that the Government of Kenya has failed to uphold its human rights obligations regarding sexual orientation and gender minorities, resulting in violence, discrimination, and a context of fear for members of these groups. This report reviews specific human rights violations that require immediate attention by the Government of Kenya, including the right to freedom from discrimination, the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living, fair work, and education. The report also addresses the intersectional violations perpetrated against LGBTIQ+ individuals with disabilities.
