Kim Boche, Law Graduate & Legal Staff, Refugee & Immigrant Program

Kim rejoins The Advocates as a Law Graduate and Legal Staff for Refugee & Immigrant Program (RIP), after being an RIP intern during their second year of law school. In their current position, they support pro bono attorneys handling asylum cases before the asylum office and the Immigration Court, as well as other humanitarian immigration matters. Kim also handles a caseload of asylum and special immigrant juvenile (SIJ) cases. Before joining The Advocates, they were a certified student attorney with the First District Public Defender’s Office, representing indigent clients at arraignments, pretrial, and probation violation hearings. Prior to their work with the public defender’s office, Kim was a legal intern with the Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project in Los Angeles, assisting pro se applicants in navigating their removal proceedings. Kim gained experience on special immigrant juvenile cases as a Public Interest Law Fellow with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), assisting in publishing an index tracking adjudicative trends for non-precedent SIJ cases. They are very excited to rejoin the office and to grow into this position.
