The Advocates for Human Rights: The Advocates is a volunteer based, non-governmental, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of internationally recognized human rights. The Advocates’ programming focuses on women’s rights, including freedom from violence; migrant and refugee rights, including both advocacy and legal services; peacebuilding in post-conflict societies; due process and freedom from persecution; and economic and social rights. The Advocates work to bring about systems change, reinforce accountability mechanisms, raise awareness, foster tolerance, and help individuals more fully realize their inherent rights.
Position Summary
The database and gift processing assistant contributes to accuracy in gift processing, acknowledgements, and appreciation. The person also answers questions from supporters and through this work builds trust in the community about The Advocates for Human Rights donation management. The preferred candidate will have some experience or interest in developing proficiency in using CRM databases, gift processing, event registrations, donation reporting, and relationship management.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Database Support (30%)
- Maintain, update, and correct constituent records
- Generate revenue reports and assist with financial reconciliation
- Prepare monthly reports and dashboards
- Run queries and create segmented mailing lists
- Review existing queries to ensure they meet current needs
- Create queries as needed
- Create event registration and donation forms:
- Import constituents, event participants, donations, and attributes
- Set up donation and event registration pages
- Track grants in RE Opportunities/Proposals
Gift Processing (40%)
- Enter donations from mail batches, NXT donations and other giving portals
- Prepare acknowledgement letters, phone call acknowledgement lists, and other correspondence
- Work with the finance team to ensure Raiser’s Edge donor database reconciles with financials (weekly and monthly)
- Process returned mail
Event Support (20%)
- Assist with attendee RSVPs and support creation and updating of nametags and seating charts as applicable
Development Intern and Volunteer Coordination Support (10%)
Qualifications
- Able to establish priorities and manage concurrent projects effectively, set priorities, and follow through
- Interested in working in databases
- Passionate about turning data into action
- Focused on details while being mindful of the big picture
- Committed to the advancement of human rights and social justice
- A college graduate or equivalent experience
- Basic knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software
- Donor or customer relations
- Fundraising or sales (preferred)
- Constituent management databases, RE/NXT (preferred)
Compensation
The compensation is $20.60/hour. Generous benefits package currently includes vacation (employees accrue 3 weeks of vacation during their first year, and up to 6 weeks after 5 years employment), 3 personal days, and 9 paid holidays, 2 weeks of accrued sick leave annually, 6 weeks paid parenting leave); employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and long-term disability/AD+D/life insurance; and pre-tax retirement plan.
Location and Status
This position is currently hybrid, with at least 3 days/week in our downtown Minneapolis office. This position is not eligible for fully remote work.
This position is represented by the Office of Professional Employees International Union, Local 12.
This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
