Human Rights Research and Policy Internship

The Advocates welcomes undergraduate/graduate/law students to assist with research, analysis, writing, policy drafting, and project administration. The Human Rights Research and Policy Intern will also assist with supporting new and ongoing projects with pro bono volunteers and internal volunteer management systems. Applicants with interest or experience in human resources and data management are encouraged.

 

Possible intern duties:

  • Compile and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  • Research and draft summaries on human rights issues
  • Assist with writing reports related to local and international human rights issues
  • Assist with researching and developing internal policies
  • Assist with communications such as newsletters, blog posts, and web pages, and creating organizational materials
  • Assist with planning trainings and clinics
  • Assist with all aspects of work at a small non-profit, including administrative tasks, data management, etc.

 

Qualifications/experience/interests:

  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • A love of data and data analysis
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Interest in human rights issues
  • Research experience
  • Curiosity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultures
  • Fluency in English
