Public Benefits for T Visa Holders: A Conversation with MN Government Agencies & AHR

Date: April 18, 2023 12 - 1 PM
Type: CLE
Issues: Migrant Rights

Once a T non-immigrant status is granted, individuals are eligible for a range of public benefits-and the Minnesota government is working to ensure T visa holders are connected to those services.  Join The Advocates and Minnesota government experts to learn what benefits your T visa clients are eligible to receive and how to help them navigate those.  Experts from the Department of Human Services (DHS), MDH, and the Family Assisters Program will present on benefits, processes and government supports available to help clients access benefits they are eligible for once their T is granted.

Staff Attorney, Lindsey Greising, will moderate the discussion based on her experience helping clients navigate these processes post-grant and lessons learned on challenges in the process.  Attendees should leave this training better able to advise clients on benefit options and help them access navigation tools successfully.  We also hope to build stronger attorney-government channels so that MDH, DHS and FAP staff can reach-out directly following an identified grant and ensure no victims are left without benefits to which they are entitled.
