This document is a stakeholder report submitted by Reprieve, The World Coalition Against

the Death Penalty, The Advocates for Human Rights, Justice and Strategic Litigation

Centre, East Africa Law Society, Legal and Human Rights Centre, The Children Education

Society, Women Aid and Criminal Justice, and Tanzania Anti-Human Trafficking and

Legal Initiatives, for the United Nations Universal Periodic Review (“UPR”) process

concerning Tanzania’s human rights record, particularly focusing on the death penalty,

administration of justice, and detention conditions. It reviews Tanzania’s responses to

previous UPR recommendations, highlights ongoing challenges, judicial rulings, and

reform efforts, and concludes with detailed recommendations for the Tanzanian

government.
